Medium Density Overlay (MDO) is plywood with a special weather-resistant coating. The coating resin is fused to the plywood by heat and pressure to form a bond stronger as the wood itself.
It has 28% resin content that resists water, weather, wear and degradation. Paint finishes applied to MDO plywood are up to three times more durable than the same finish applied to ordinary plywood. These types sheets have all the strength of traditional plywood combined with an exceptionally smooth paintable surface. They are typically used for exterior painted surfaces.

An economical, environmentally friendly product made of waste wood materials MDO sheets are hard, dense, flat, stiff, have no knots, and are lighter than MDF. The smooth surface can be painted with high quality enamels. Since it is made up of fine particles bonded together with resin it no recognizable surface grain. It can be painted to produce a smooth quality surface Equally strong across the entire surface of the board as a result of having no grain. It does not split or crack like regular plywood when exposed to weather. Since it has no grain it can be cut, drilled, glued and sanded without damaging the surface. It is both strong and lightweight with high surface finish durability.
