Hard Rock Maple is creamy tan or white with a reddish tinge and usually has a straight grain, sometimes curly or wavy. Fine brown growth rings give an attractive figure on plain surfaces.
The material is very hard and the wood grain texture is fine and even. Items made with this wood are heavy, durable and strong.
It is a close-grained wood, polishes to high luster, and wears evenly. The tree heartwood is a very pale reddish brown, whereas sheets made from the sapwood are light sandy brown. Often found with curly or birds-eye figure. Used mostly for decorative home interior applications.
