MDF Board Sheets
Price: $0.00
Note: Product is currently only available as full sheets.
Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) is an engineered material formed by mixing wood fragments together with wax and a resin glue binder and forming it into flat panels. They are made into solid sheets by applying high temperature and pressure.
MDF is denser and heavier than plywood. Unlike plywood, MDF sheets are made up of separated wood fibers compressed into a solid material, not strips of wood veneers. It can be used as a building material similar in application to plywood and is much more dense than particle board.
Product Advantages:
An environmentally friendly product made of waste wood materials
MDF sheets are typically less expensive than natural wood products such as plywood.
Since it is a man-made material it can be manufactured so it is fire-retardant up to 1200 degrees.
Equally strong across the entire surface of the board as a result of having no grain. It does not split or crack like regular plywood.
Makes an excellent base material for applying exotic wood veneers that is both strong, affordable and easy to work with.
The material is denser and heavier than plywood and therefore has a higher durability. It should be sealed to resist moisture.
Has a smooth, paintable surface that is uniform in strength but flexible so it can be used for curved walls or surfaces.
